Elie Tahari Resort Collection 2014

It’s just the time for Resort collections from known fashion designers with Elie Tahari included. Judging from Elie Tahari outfits this is not quite ‘resort’ collection like he had, say, previous year. All items are good for everyday wear with no vivid bright exotic accents on resort relaxation. Yet light flowy chiffon fabric touches evoke summery mood.

Inspiration is a tricky thing: you never know when and where it comes from. I’ve been trying for find the secret already before. This time Elie Tahari drew his inspiration for the Resort Collection 2014 from Eero Saarine’s works, particularly from TWA Terminal. Simple, arching curves are seen in nearly every work of the architect, so the designer decided that curved and linear silhouettes would suit best for ladies this season.

The color palette is classic: primarily black-and-white. It’s not the first time Tahari fancy this color combination, probably for its win-win and proper-for-office effect. Olive and brown pops of color add some pretty touch to black and white tandem.

The choice of the fabric was probably difficult. It looks like Tahari hesitated between leather and chiffon, so he decided to take both. Leather is ultra-thin, so it makes a perfect combination with lightweight crepe and jacquard. Enjoy!
