Elie Tahari is one of the designer whose accessories make woman’s mouths watering. This fall he impressed the audience by awesome handbags and clutches.

Mira Tote is probably on of the most popular Tahari handbags. I guess knowing this Tahari recreated the idea of pleated bag in hobos for NY Fashion Week 2010. Capacious, fashionable and so lightweight at the same time they are perfect for everyday use for any business lady. Hayley Hobo was seen in classic black and trend color of this season copper leaf. Also the Leah hobo in copper leaf & gold is amazing. It makes a great ensemble with yellow pepper blouse and grey pant. I liked the idea to hold it grabhand, however it can be worn over the shoulder either. I think like Mira Tote these hobos should feature two large sections, one zip and little pocket for a mobile phone.

Women in Black

It’s not a female version of the movie “Men in Black” actually, this is how I named Elie Tahari’s fall/winter collection for 2010-2011.

The first thing that attracts everybody’s attention on catwalk shows is the colors. This autumn luxury designer decided to dress women in black, at least it was the first impression on catwalk show when a half of it was presented in black. However the rest of it was in copper, a bit of gray and terracotta colors On the one hand, this is the color that always gives stylish look, it’s formal and is perfect for everyday events. Plump women, feel happy this season! Black color is perfect to slenderize any forms. On the other, it may seem a bit doleful but Elie Tahari anticipated that and prettified black by gorgeous bright costume jewelery. (more…)

Elie Tahari: the Beginning

Elie TahariNaturally, when I thought about what to start with I decided to write about the first that impressed me in Elie Tahari – his life and how he happened to get into the world of clothes design.

Like many world known people today, say Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, Elie Tahari did not plan to become what he is now – a luxury fashion designer. With a handful of dollars Tahari moved to the States where he slept in the Central Park for some weeks and then in YMCA hotels. Who knows, may be like many other immigrants he believed in American Dream and hoped he was the lucky guy. And he is actually.

The next year when he was twenty he found a job of an electrician, at first sight nothing common with fashion industry. However, he worked in Manhattan’s garment district! After working in showrooms of known clothing brands he apparently discovered a talent of clothing designer in himself.

When Tahari was twenty-one he already opened his first boutique located in East 53rd Street. There a young designer presented two labels: Morning Lady and Midnight Lady both created in disco style. Then Tahari shifted to formal style most suitable for everyday life. Being one of the first luxury fashion designers he succeeded to open boutique on Madison Avenue. He was only 22! Could you believe this? Breathtaking success! Currently he is one of the most known fashion designers with his personal tony style seen in each clothing piece and more than 6,000 stores only in the United States only.
